When Foxes Pride met LCFC’s Academy

During February 2022 half-term in Leicestershire, our chair Graeme Smith and Foxes Pride member Mags Keatman spent time with some of Leicester City Football Club’s U18 players. This was part of LCFC Academy’s diversity programme to raise awareness about LGBT+ issues and to highlight the importance of being an ally.

The Academy players learnt what LGBT+ stands for, the history of LGBT+ rights and the issues that are faced. Personal experiences of homophobic abuse were shared, and the players were asked to think about what it means to be an ally. It was a fantastic engagement and we thank everyone at the Academy for giving us the opportunity to educate, and to make us feel very welcome.

We really do have one of the best football academies going!
